Adventures

So I betcha wonderin where I've been.... well... ahem... Ive been having wonderous, exciting adventures! Ya know the kind that leave your butt and calves soooo dang sore you think they will fall off? Ya. Friday we went up to Molton Falls, (our new fave place) and went hiking. Uphill. I'll tell ya thats the best exercise a prego woman can get!! Heres some pics:

We hiked about 7-8 miles... was absolutley beautiful! I love hiking :)  Saturday, we decided to drive up to the Ape Caves...hehe... well only
to find out that there is still 5 feet of snow EVERYWHERE! We so would have trekked around if we had snowshoes. Once again, it was beautiful. There was a small boardwalk trail that took us around a bit that we went on. There were other trails but they were covered with snow and there were HUGE holes (see photob below) in the ground that we just didnt want to misstep into. Aparently those holes used to be trees a thousand years ago, b
ut Mount St. Helens  (which is right next to where we were) took care of them and left holes. Weird phenomena.

So since the Ape Caves were a bust, we decided to Hey lets go to Olympia! (1.5 hours away) So we drove up, a very pretty drive by the way, and a nice straight shot up I-5. We got there about 2 or so, and we timed the weekend right because apparently Friday was Earth Day (who knew?) so there was a huge art/hippie fest right in the middle of town. We first went up to Pierce Point Park and toodled around (by toodling, I mean hiking) on thier trails, then we went to town. As night fell the streets got more filled and things were happening. There were so many bands!!! So many. We decided to go the gourmet route and dine at the BEST hotdog stand ever. Well, I
got a hot dog (which later gave me heartburn, but water gives me heartburn so whatever) and Zac got a pulled pork sandwich. (I cant stomach BBQ sauce at this point.) We stayed until about 10:30 and joined in the Luminescence Parade, which was pretty fun. Then we decided, heck were here, so we found the cleanest Motel 6 I've ever seen and stayed the night. Then went back for more hiking in the early afternoon after breakfast. We were going to stay for the rest of the day, but it was raining and,.... if you scroll down, you will see that I was lacking footwear. While hiking that morning, we found a break in the trail that went through where the ocean normally is at high tide. Wll it was low tide so it was one giant mudflat.. hehe... guess who sank a bit. Oh and Zac? Not a spec of mud on him. I dont get it.

Peruvian Flute Band  A Luminesence Figure Another one.

Attacked by a mud flat.            View from a bluff at the park

Weekend trip

This little guy was at the Portland Zoo, just looking around at something that was teasing him. I think I'd call him Lou if he were mine.  After church we went to the Zoo since it was REALLY nice (read: HOT) The zoo was enormous and wore us out completely. Thank goodness for Icees.

We had to park about 2 miles away and walk. Uphill. However the 2nd photo is what we had to walk through. It was really pretty.

Saturday was a busy day too. We had fun this weekend! We are enjoying the warm weather and going out to do things. This weekend is supposed to rain though. Quite a bit Ive heard.
We find out what Baby X is on May 4th, Im way too excited! So far it doesnt seem like Ive got much time for a post, I have to go get dinner started, but I will be back with something interesting sometime.

Short post.

It is a beautiful day out! Its also 10:30 already and my other half is still in bed. I am currently enjoying my breakfast and tea and thanking the Lord for His hand in my life. My hours got cut at work, meaning I will only be working Mon-Wed. (YAY!!!) I am so thrilled with that schedule, mostly because that means that my house will be clean once more! Not to mention I will get to work out in the daytime, and all the things that need to be done will get done. I am very pleased.
Not to mention its getting harder to bend over and my back is starting to hurt more and more.

Looks like we are headed home in June! (Yay again!) I am so excited to see everyone again, especially my little furry schmoo-kitty. And I will get to see my sister, since she will be on summer break. Ohhhh... and dads cooking!!!

Ok this is being cut short. See you later.

Easter is here tomorrow

Easter is here in a day, and this is the first year I'm breaking tradition in 23 years or so. Traditionally, it would be my parents, my sis and I, grampa chuck and grama, or grampa chuck and bev (depending on what era you talk about), occasionally my aunt Tami whenever she lived nearby and my husband (in the most recent years) would go out to brunch on Easter morning. We would all get dressed up in our Sunday best, my sister and I would have new Easter outfits, and we would head to Shilo (in the early years) or Elmers (later on) for Easter buffet. There is nothing I enjoy more on Easter than to go to brunch with all my family. We'd spend a few hours talking and eating and then head back to the house, because the Easter Bunny came. Yes, even up until last year, the easter bunny still came.  And then the Easter stock market was open for business. My sister and I would do a fast paced trade for jellybeans vs. chocolate eggs. I didnt like some jelly beans and vice versa. Last year hubs got into it too.  And mom would eat the ears off our chocolate bunnies. (Mom tax.)

This year, we are away from family, and starting our own. So we are going to the Easter Service at our church, and then I will make Easter dinner.  For two people, it will be ok. I will re-start the tradition when Baby X is 2 or 3. So I have a few years or non-tradition. Oh well. As long as I get my deviled eggs and sausage, fine.

Easter is a very uplifting time of year anyways, He has risen giving hope and light to the world, and we have many things to be thankful for. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter day.

A good quote about playing God..

"The human body comes with a marvelous ability to regulate its own appetites. Then we muck it all up with our ideas of what it should look like." - Harriet Brown

Brain Cells wherefore art thou? Please forgive me if this doesnt make any sense

I had an ingenious post in my head all day at work today. I kept mulling it over and re-writing it and lo and behold the second I got it perfect my pregnancy brain decided I didnt need it anymore and I really cant remember what in the world I was originally going to say. They say a pregnant womans brain actually shrinks in size during the 9 months (for whatever reason) and I believe it. The second you start growing a little human, all brain cells get transferred to your uterus, thus leaving me a complete and blithering retard.

I think it had something to do with faith, our topic to speak on in  a few weeks at church, and it did go along very well with the politics currently talking place at my work which is less that fun. More like migraine-inspiring. (the politics, not faith) But... since I have no brain cells..... its not affecting me that bad. So far the worst that has been happening is me forgetting things all over the place. Today I even locked my keys in my closet and had to go hunt for someone with a key to that door.

I started working out again since I started back in the work force. I feel pretty good. I am definetly happy I started again. Maybe getting some blood going back into my head will nourish whats left of the the little gray matter I have and make me a little less of an idiot. I really cant think right now, I'll write tomorrow.

Sailing kicks your patukah.

So. Sore. And. Tired. Cant. Move...Sailing really takes a lot out of you, especially when its cold and its an all day thing. Its a ton of fun, but when you finally get home and sit down its like someone just took the batteries out of your back. Energizer no more. We had a good time. Went out on a  last minute race, which was postponed, which was then cancelled. So all 60-some odd boats went back to thier slips, however we stayed out. Had the race waited another 30 minutes, we would have been fine because the wind picked up. We were out for 6 hours doing 9 knots. Thats pretty dang good. Im just ready for bed.

My "round ligaments" as they call them, are hurting like mad now though. Its not excruciating or anything like period cramps, its just sharp little stabbing pains that feel like they are 3-5 inches long and throbbing really really slowly. More irritating than anything else, but necessary for uterine and baby growth so I try to enjoy them. (although im not sure enjoy is the right word for that.)

I still feel like Im on the boat. Sitting down, I feel like I am rocking back and forth. Which means getting to sleep tonight is going to take for bloody ever. Still have to work on my talk for church that is coming up in a few weeks. Right now Ive got a jumbled mess of notes. Im sure I will pull through, I am just hoping I can articulate and speak slow enough to take up a half hour or more since hubs only wants to do 15 min of his half hour. Im sure I can come up with something good.

Went shopping today. Actually, I should say I was forced to go shopping today. Baby Morris is now forcing me out of my normal clothes and into bigger sizes. Im not maternity just yet, but was able to find  a pair of jeans that look alright I guess and a dress that I think is actually rather flattering on my new-larger body. (Id say figure, but im not sure I have one anymore.) I am also pleased to know that the maxi dress is coming back into style. I tried one on and ooooohhhh the comfort!! It was such a soft jersey knit... I have to wait to get it just cuz its $25, but I can wait. Perhaps since they are coming into style this season I can find a little more modest one that I dont have to wear a jacket over or a shirt under. We'll see. So far the most comfy thing ever is sweats and a sweatshirt. However, I am refusing to turn into a shlumpadinka as Oprah so fittingly calls it.

Still weighing the going blonde option... cant decide. I was a very nice shade of blonde for many years, then went back to my natural brown and some variations of it. The only thing that I didnt like about being blonde was the constant root upkeep (my hair grows freakin fast even not being prego) and no one takes you seriously. Ever. Oh and the blonde jokes? Dont start me on that one. Although when I had black hair, I couldnt get away from the Elvira jokes. I cant win.

Holy crap Im so ready to hit the hay. Or rather, my cozy bed in front of the fireplace in my Chateau in the Swiss Alps during a storm. Thats my "meditation" I do to be able to relax and make my bed as comfortable as possible. Pretending I am in the most comfortable bed ever is very relaxing. And it definetly helps that Ive got a nuclear reactor for a husband right next to me to perhaps simulate how warm it would be if I did indeed have a fireplace.

Had a taco bell fit tonight... tried a new thing from them that ive never had... the super crunch something or other.... very good. not big enough, but very good. I think I am over my taco bell craving stage though... just not feeling it anymore. I wish I could crave broccoli or something.

Ow. Ligaments. Ow. Alright, Im closing up shop for the night. Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Random thoughts

Any one know of any good buscuit recipes? Ya know, the kind that turn out like Pillsbury flaky ones? I got close tonight... but they didnt rise as well as I wanted them too. Any input would be good... perhaps your mom knows Cece??? They did turn out pretty though, I was going to take a pic, but then I got caught up in turning the salmon so I put the buscuits back in the oven to keep warm and they got too brown on the top. Still tasted ok.

Its been an uneventful day today, which is nice. Wasnt feelin so hot this morning, but Im doing better now and even after dinner craving a BLT and popcorn. OH!! and I found this popcorn stuff that you shake on and it tastes exactly like movie theater popcorn!! It even turns them yellow. Its probably horrendously unhealthy, but ooooohhhh soooo gooood!!!

We have to speak in church in a month, Im already preparing. The topic is Faith. Just Faith. Ive got so many scribbles and notes on so many random peices of paper now... Ive just got to put it in an order that makes sense and then get scriptures that correspond to main points. I kinda enjoy this, it reminds me of English class.

So far work has been going well, yesterday the owners were coming in for a walk through so we all were bustin butt to get the place even more immaculate than it already is. HARD WORK. All the public areas are done every day anyways, some days I feel like Im just dusting toilets. But I suppose it is nice that this old folks home is immaculate and I dare say pretty close to germ free. Except the staff room. Apparently no one cares in there.

Not a whole lot to report on at the moment... oh Im getting a calling in our church on Sunday... Looks like we'll be moving again... I say that jokingly only because every calling we have had we have ended up moving 2 weeks into it. Anywho, I forgot what the title is but I will be working with the 8-10 year old girls on Wed. nights. Its like a youth group for that age. No clue what I will be doing, but Im sure it wont be too bad.

So far I have one dress and 2 skirts that fit me. Poo. Getting dressed for church is getting frusterating. I dont really like the way I look in anything at the moment anyways... Actually its all I can do to avoid the mirror right now. Perhaps it wont be as bad when I actually have the full-on belly. Right now even though I am showing a little, I still just look big and my pride and joy of a waist is almost gone.

Well thats all from the homefront for right now...

Oh, and while I was away....

Got our 11 week ultrasound. The little bean was bouncing around so much!

Im Back!!!

We finally got a router!! I am back to the land of the living finally.  So to catch up.... Ive been working full time at a luxury old folks home, get this....$9500 a month for the best rooms. Im not kidding when I say luxury. So far being pregnant and working hasnt been too bad, Im not that big yet.

I am at the end of 12 weeks pregnant, I am starting to show a bit!! Exciting. We find out what it is for sure in 4 weeks. I am still pretty sure its a girl, but I could be suprised. We havent bought anything yet for good reason, and its killing me! Especially going to walmart and seeing all the cute little easter dresses  out there.

I am finally over being sick. I caught that miserable crud that is going around. And, wonderfully enough, I am pregnant and not allowed any medication in the 1st trimester. I got through it, although Im still coughing a bit.

Went and saw Watchmen last week... dont see it and by all means dont take your kids. It is nothing short of pornographic. Im appalled. I keep joking that if God doesnt wipe out Hollywood anytime soon, he will have to apologize to Sodom and Gommorrah.

I am so excited  to catch up on the blogs I read!! Ive missed alot. Be back tomorrow on my normal blogging schedule.

Insult to injury

In addition to my last post... add pinkeye to both eyes as well. Ive got eyedrops for that though.

Otherwise, Im not allowed any medication since Im only 10 1/2  weeks along.

I am feeling better, but still.

Holy sick!!!

Tip #1: Dont get sick while pregnant!!

I am up, yet again, (this is day 3) at 5am trying to soothe this stupid cough with the umpteenth cup of honey lemon tea. I caught what is going around, and in normal circumstances, I'd be taking it fine because I would have gallons of Nyquil at my disposal.

But since I am pregnant and have to take the "au natural" approach, I am on day 3, now with laryngitis and a cough that is so horrendous, hubs is now taking day 3 off from work because even with me in a different room he still hasnt gotten any sleep for 3 nights.

The poor dear ran to the store last night at 1am for me after I had a break down. You know how hard it is to cry when your throat is closed up???  So I am out here after another coughing fit, hoping the honey will do something amazing this time, and hoping hubs can get some rest while I am being soothed.

My boss even called ME to tell me to take Friday off as well. I dont think I will make it to the BBQ tonight, or sailing Sunday, but that is fine with me, only if I can sleep. I dont have a freakin voice anyways.

Any one have any ideas for me? Aside from jumping off a cliff???

One of my favorite Psalms

I love this Psalm, it has kept me going time and time again.

Psalm 61

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.

He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

im alive

Its been a few days since I last posted... have a great reason... Im employed. I did get the job and it is a bit tiring. But a job nonetheless. Just trying to balance work and my disaster of a house.

In baby news, Im 9 weeks along... girl name so far: Sonja Elise...boy name so far: Jacob Michael. Subject to change at any time, though probably not. 1st ultrasound is next week, get to hear the heartbeat.

I dont have a ton of time for writing right now, but just wanted to stick my head in and say hi and Im still here.

When frusterations mount. (or rather, me venting)

I cant get ahead of myself. My house. My chores. My thoughts. Ive got things to do, choices to make and for some reason or another they all pile up on me at once when I have absolutley no time to sort through them. Today I go sign my hiring papers, Zac got paid, and now I have to decide whether to pay the truck today and get enough food to get by for the week, or pay the truck a day late next week and buy decent food for the week. I also have a kitchen to clean up, a mysterious blue envelope to find (i hope its in the closet!), quickbooks to settle out, call the tax guy to see if we have to file in Idaho or Washington, and many many growing piles that I havent had the time to put away or go through. My bathroom needs a deep clean and the bedroom is growing clothes. Not to mention I have to fit in my workout, and be ready for hubs when he comes home in a bad mood so I can cheer him up and be the rock of the household as per usual. Oh, and I have to take the movies back, fill out an exit application for Zacs student loans and somehow find money for a brake job before my wheels fall off.

All this on top of being pregnantly fatigued which is driving me mad. The temple is closed until the 24th for maintenance, I havent really had time to do devotions, not like I've really felt very pious enough to do them. I cant fast because Im pregnant, I totally spaced family home evening which is supposed to take place on Monday, but I forgot and have been forgetting every single day since. So I am calling quits on that until next monday. Then there is always the very real fear of Zac getting laid off, every Friday it seems that some rumor goes around his work that they will be laying off 20 people this week, etc.  Which most of the time doesnt happen, but that company is very good at layoffs if they dont like you or if they see you arent working hard. Which is a little bit of a catch-22 there because they are very slow right now so everyone is scrambling for even the most menial something to look busy. Which in turn brings my hubby home in not so great moods and there seems I can do nothing really to help him other that remain cheerful and happy and steadfast all the while I just want to cry and be down myself because I havent accomplished what I wanted to that day and Im tired and and I dont have anyone to tell me that its going to be ok or to get me a cup of tea.

And I know I cant stress out because that would stress out the baby and thats not good apparently. in a sense, I guess its a good thing that I am having to be cheerful all the time, it does tend to keep me out of bad moods, but still. And I dont know how I am going to wing getting anything done when I start working. Hubs said he'd help me out, I appreciate that! I will get off at 4pm, so that adds an hour to my after work schedule.  Sorry for the venting but I needed it.

My dishwasher agitates me.

Does anyone else have this problem?? I have a VERY loud dishwasher, the cycle is quick, but during the cycle I can hardly hear myself think. I am not a loud noise person, never have been. So when this thing has to go off, I get really agitated and anxious. I dont know if it is just because I really enjoy my quiet little space and when it is on it interferes with my thoughts, or perhaps it is a noisy reminder of all the things I havent accomplished that day. The latter sounds about right, when Ive got the dishwasher on, that means that I probably still have one more load to do, and usually that goes hand in hand with cleaning the rest of the house. Either way it is still annoying.

Doc appt. went very well yesterday.  I love Kaiser!! What a great medical place. My doc was great too. Zac came in with me, we got to ask all our burning questions. Oh and have a PAP. Yeah. Fun. Oh and I can have the TB test. So now I am scheduled for blood work, an ultra sound and another doc appt all before the 18th of March. Busy.

How should I tell the new job I just got hired on to?

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Cheesy-poofs and a new job?

Well, I am back from my pee test. Apparently Im hired! (Yippee!!) Except for the fact that I have to take a TB test, mandatory for being hired. Soooo....Im going to ask the doc tomorrow about it. I think that if they have to inject a little in the skin, then I probably wont get the job. But if they do a blood draw, then I am fine. Again, I will talk to my doc. Im keeping my fingers crossed, perhaps if they want to do the injection, they will let me find my own doctor to do the blood draw.

So after that, I ran my errands. Post office, only to tell me that the package I got a "missed package" slip for is actually at the front office of my apartment building, and has been all weekend!! What a pain. Then to Freddies to buy enough granola bars for hubby to get through the week, and  a sandwich for a starving pregnant lady. (ie: me) Then on to Trader Joes, I dont mind that place too much, it just always smells like old cheese. We get our tea from there, and while I was there, not being satisfied by a sandwich came upon these cheesy poofs. Ive eaten almost all the bag, they are sooooo gooood!!!! Now I just need a ginger ale to finish it off.... hmm.. forgot about that part. O well.

Good news, I hope.

So good news has come my way... at 9am this morning I was woken up by a call from the lady I had interviewed with last week to come in and take a drug test and fill something out. This doesnt mean I have the job yet, just that I qualified to make the final cut. I have to go in at 11, so I guess my errand will get done early since I will be out.

Anniversary #3 for hubs and I are coming up Saturday! Weve been together for 9 years, 3 of which are married years. Im not sure what to do, usually we just stay in and I go all out with dinner and last year I think we rented a movie. Perhaps I'll do steak and scallops this year... I'd do sushi with him, but I cant eat it until after Child X is born.

I got to talk to my best bud Cece yesterday, she is loving mommy-hood, and my pregnancy couldnt have come at a better time! Now I've got someone who just went through everything, so I can wrack her brains for her secrets... bwwaahhaaahahaaha. My mom is a good resource too, but she had my sister 19 years ago, so she doesnt remember much. Not to mention she is waaaaay taller and has a different bone structure than I do, so I cant compare anything there.

Ive defenitly got a case of the pregnancy brain though. Its like all switches have been turned off. Like posting this week and last... Brain. Just. Wasnt. Working.

Well I have to go get dressed and stuff, so perhaps tomorrow I will have something interesting to write about.

For the Un-Valentines

We dont celebrate Valentines day. No, it isnt for religious reasons, my husband just doesnt like it. And not to mention our anniversary is 7 days later... so that would mean 2 gifts.... hmmm... Im getting slighted here, no? lol

No, I have feelings of animosity towards Red and Pink day too. Perhaps because I know we just dont celebrate it. Although the funny thing is that even though we dont "celebrate" it, my husband always does something romantic for me on that day. Way to confuse a girl right?

I always end up sneaking around and doing something for him for V. day. Today I am planning to make heart shaped sugar cookies. I hope I can find a decent frosting recipe. Ya know like the ones on christmas cookies your neighbors give you, and the frosting is hard and stays on the cookie? I have yet to figure that one out.

I am happy to report we are back to the land of the living and I can now start planning for this week. Joanns is having a sale on Monday, I plan to pick up some fleecy stuff and patterns for Child X and perhaps some more yarn. Today is the blessed food shopping day!! Pot Roast here I come!! We have been eating well for the past week, but it has been very cheap things over and over like potatos. And eggs. Well, eggs for hubby. And thankfully I had bought chicken breast in bulk and froze them, so hubs would have dinner and lunches. So now I am overjoyed to go actually get somethings with flavor!!! Oh have you ever tried pizza from Leonardis in Winco? Best pizza ever!!!

I am anxiously awaiting a phone call also. Wednesday I had a job interview as a housekeeper at a really ritzy retirement home. It is so nice inside!! The interview went well, and my interviewer said she had a few people to talk to also, but said she would call whether good or bad news. I would be appreciative of either. I hate it when you never hear back from a company you interviewed for.

I have my doc appt on Wednesday. Im excited to get the ball rolling. I suppose there is a little comfort in having a  doctor finally.  Well, if I am going to get anything done, I better go do it. have a great day!

MIA

I know I've been MIA for a few days, but I just havent felt up to doing much. Every morning I have a routine of things I read on the internet, and one of them just happens to be the comic strip For Better or For Worse by Lynn Johnston. This was todays strip and I couldnt agree with it more. Yes I am greatful for all the rights women have, that we arent drug around by the hair when a man wants something, but really... we are female. Not male. Our bodies were made to look good in dresses, our features are softer and more gentle, and our maternal instincts do  show up at one time or another. In my opinion, if women were supposed to be exactly like men, why would He give us such wonderfully different gifts? Anywho, I am in no mood to research this topic and write an essay, I just got back from working out and it almost killed me.

I am 7 weeks along. YAY! And still tired. And chicken is my worst enemy unless it is a McChicken sandwich or a Spicy chicken sandwich from Wendys. I dont know why. I even made chicken burritos for my hubby last night, and it had so much stuff in it my husband said you couldnt even taste the chicken, so I tried a bite and puked immediatly. I hope this goes away soon.

I havent much to say today, I am pretty tired, so I will leave you with that rambling thought and a note saying IM STILL HERE! Have a wonderful day.

13 minutes of Reassurance

I love this sermon I found on sermonaudio.com. It is the burdens of life, but gives such great reassurance in our Lord Jesus Christ, I've listened to it I dont know how many times. Just push the play button, what can be better than 13 minutes of being reassured?

A life on hold.

Holy crap. i did it!! After 20 minutes on hold with Kaiser, they finally figured out where my insurance papers were and were able to issue me temp. coverage so I could make an appt!!! YYAAAYYY!!!! I am so thrilled. I am ready to get this doctor stuff up and going as this is our first child and I freak out on some days that Im not doing the right thing.

So now i'm on hold to make an appt. Sigh. it never ends does it??

OK. I have an appt. FINALLY. Talk about making mountains out of molehills.

Ok enough of that, I got this emailed to me, so heres my answers:

Hearing
.
the hum of my noisy fridge
.

Seeing

Nothing says welcome to pregnancy better than a hard boiled egg.

(they are laughing at me, I know it.)

Ugh. I think I just had my first food aversion. Hard boiled eggs. I just made a wonderful spinach salad with cheese and avacado and veggies and then put a hard boiled egg in. What a way to ruin a salad. Which Im bummed about because eggs were my favorite part of the salad pre-pregnancy.

I took out most of the egg, but as it was crumbled in there, I just had to grin and bear in and then suck down a handful of grapes to get the taste out of my mouth and hopefully keep me from puking. Stupid eggs.

On a better note, I have the most awesomest husband in the world!! Yesterday he suprised me with a bouquet of flowers just because. I love getting flowers!!! It was so sweet of him to do that for me, not to mention they look great in my kitchen.
